S11 VEC Estoril – GTE #399

Events, SRC VEC – Season 11 / Division 4
Introduction - After finally realising its potential by taking pole position, a few moments of bad luck — followed by extended repair times — meant that just a single championship point was taken away from Portugal. Qualifying Qualifying driver Blazej Myszk has been disappointed at the last few races, saying that his starting position, while high, was not reflective of his real speed. At Estoril he managed the perfect lap and took pole position with ease, being the only GTE to lap the circuit in less than 90 seconds. When the time was set, the sounds made by the team were a strange combination of disbelief and relief more than outright joy. Behind him, the grid times were again very tight, with less than two tenths covering 3rd to 7th.…

S11 VEC Sepang – GTE #399

Events, SRC VEC – Season 11 / Division 4
Introduction - Despite signing two new drivers in the run-up to this race, it seems that this SimHQ Motorsports squad is actually more in need of a few good luck charms and perhaps a resident shaman. One clean race could see them clean up, but whether or not you subscribe to the view that “you make your own luck”, it is undoubtedly that area which is holding them back. The completion of the latest SRC Academy series has allowed graduates Matt Horst and Jason Whited to be added to the #399s driver pool for the rest of the season. With this Malaysian round being the longest so far and some bigger tests looming in the coming months, this rounding out of the team was much needed. Both drivers come with good…

S11 VEC Interlagos – GTE #399

Events, SRC VEC – Season 11 / Division 4
Introduction - After the rush of excitement from scoring a podium in the last round, the most junior of the three SimHQ Motorsports entries in this season of the VEC suffered a race to forget but pushed through and came out with some valuable experience. Due to having racing commitments in another series, the team was much less well-prepared than normal, and was still doing the Dangerous Dance of Setup Indecision the night before the race. Qualifying Blazej Myszk has clearly been given the qualifying hat this season and proved his mettle once again, putting the car in 5th position despite the dubious preparation mentioned above. This was the best starting slot of the season so far, and will serve as notice to fans and rivals that the squad is…

S11 VEC NOLA – GTE #399

Events, SRC VEC – Season 11 / Division 4
Introduction The SimHQ Motorsports GTE squad built upon their result at round one and this time brought the car home in 5th position, although a podium spot could have been within their grasp. With all three drivers available for the New Orleans event, and a useful base setup in place from Indianapolis, concern had mainly centered on how the multi-class traffic would play out on such a tight and narrow track. However, the #399 encountered no significant troubles from the prototype ranks and also enjoyed a penalty-free race. Qualifying Qualifying was perhaps even tighter than at the season-opener, with seven midfield cars being separated by four tenths of a second. The team’s established choice for qualifying, Blazej Myszk, was in the top bracket of that fight, and started the race…

S11 VEC Indy – GTE #399

Events, SRC VEC – Season 11 / Division 4
Introduction - SimHQ Motorsports' newest entrant to the Virtual Endurance Championship managed a very respectable 8th position in its first outing, but the team had to focus hard in order to get there. Preparation for the race was less than ideal, with relatively few practice laps turned and even question marks hanging over driver availability right up to the start of qualifying. Hence there was a fair amount of blind trust that the setup was in the right place and that things would be alright on the day. Lead driver, Blazej Myszk, turned up to do qualifying (and start the race with a double stint) despite a long journey home from a college field trip that had got him back to his own bed only a few hours earlier. Qualifying…
