I'm very pleased to announce that throughout the month of May the AC hotlap challenge will be making a return. smile

AC has an official in game app for comparing times with your Steam friends, so time to have a little fun!

You have 7 days to post your best time and see how you compare.

The next Challenge is:

Challenges > Hotlap: BMW E30 Group A @ Trento-Bondone

Prerequisites

Game Settings

Launcher settings for ABS and TC must be set to FACTORY.

Penalties must be enabled

Before you can start posting laps you need to do two things (if you haven't already)

1. Activate the in game Friends Leaderbord. To do this, take to the track and move your mouse to the right hand edge of the screen to activate the apps sidebar. From here select the Friends Leaderboard (it's near the bottom)

You should then see a leaderboard similar to this. You can drag it round to a suitable position.

Once the app is active it will log your laps and list those of your Steam Friends.

2. In order to get an accurate set of comparison of times you will need to add people to your friends list. You should be able to find all of us at the SimHQ Motorsports Steam Group. Just send out friend invites to those taking part and when they accept you can see their times on your leaderboard.

I have most people already, but if you want to enter, please add me as a friend first (if you haven't already), then post a time. I'll periodically post my leaderboard in the following post so you can all see who you need to befriend. Hopefully after a short while we'll all be bosom buddies. cheers

Have Fun!!!

The challenge is open immediately and will expire exactly 7 days from the time of this post. smile

This one will sort the men from the boys! It's as much about attrition as raw pace. Have fun biggrin

Here's a pretty slow time to beat. I kept binning it every few corners.

Only tried that place once. With Alfa Gulia.

It lasted so long I had to shave before I finished...

That was fun.

So, what surface/tire combo are yall using? I shaved an entire minute going from old/hard to optimum/soft.

biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Also, trying to find the right gearing is a challenge.

I was just running the stock mediums I think. I changed my brake bias a little and that's about it. 13:28 currently. Had what I felt was a good lap going and slid head first into one of the hairpins near the top...GRRRRR!!!! wink

Yea, this is a cruel track to get a cutting penalty on, not only because of the length, but because there isn't any cuts that would save you any time. Well my first ever run ended with a predictably slow time, was making run number two and ran out of fuel. Looking forward to having another go.

And optimum and soft is the config I have atm, no point in making things harder than they already are.. burnout

Running the shortest final drive ratio possible. 1st gear is useless after the start, and it makes my car effectively a 4-speed, which is great since I'm running the real car's dogleg H-gate configuration. Feels strange to wind-out 5th gear on a course like this. smile

Added more ride height, less damping, softer springs, flexier ARB's and less downforce so far. LSD settings feel perfect as-is.

Got a 12.36 something, considering I drove this track for the first time yesterday I'm pretty pleased with it.

What a fun combo whoohoo

AhhhhHHHhh!!! This course is the DEVIL!

Made some good adjustments but eventually, somewhere usually about 8-10 minutes in I'll...

A: Dip a tire off and no lap counted (because I really gain time cutting here...NOT!...lol).

B: Hit a wall (or the cross) head on making me have to reverse and go again while losing valuable time.

C: Fall off an upper switchback back down to the previous switchback.

D: A couple times I've ended up on my roof...lol.

banghead

cheers

Oh, I hit escape...lol.

Only two out of probably 25-30 attempts have been logged. I'm getting really good at the first 5 minutes of the run or so...lol. What pisses me off is my incidents are happening near the last 2-3 minutes of the run and then the run is nullified. I only have so much time to race. wink

Shaved it by 6 secs to 12.29xxx, don't know if I can find another 8 secs. I'll give it a good go though. I think the trick with this style of course is not to go maximum attack all the way up. Attack the corners that you remember well, and be sensible the rest of the way. That way you'll set more valid times and learn the course bit by bit.

Made a couple attempts at it yesterday, but was not able to make it up the mountain before nightfall. I did stay at a lovely little bed & breakfast just off the road - run by a charming old couple who speak really good English!

Nice run. I was not in the zone last night. Maybe that after dinner drink that I skipped actually makes me faster? Anyway, 3 runs and I was always 10+ seconds slower than my best time.

That time was set on my first run this morning on my 'take it easy(ish) warm-up run' I was very surprised at the time. When I tried to push harder to gain those extra seconds I ended up being consistantly 3 seconds slower on subsequent runs. I guess the mistakes I was making cost me more time than I gained by pushing too hard.

If there was ever a time where I regretted having only the F1 rim for the Fanatec it is about 4 minutes into this run... I've almost lost my thumbs a few times trying to grab the wheel.
